 What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a regulated health care profession.

Chiropractic is the art, science, and philosophy of natural, hands-on healing. It is one of the largest primary contact health care professions in Canada.  Every year, approximately 4.5 million Canadians are treated with drug-free, noninvasive, hands-on care.

 

What is a Chiropractor?

A chiropractor is a member of the regulated health profession of Chiropractic.  He/she has a degree in Doctor of Chiropractic.  A chiropractor uses hands-on manual therapy and techniques to treat the patient.

 

What is chiropractic?

There are only 2 forms of the word chiropractic and chiropractor.  As described above, the term chiropractic is the art, science, and philosophy of natural, hands-on healing.  The term chiropractor is referring to the person who practices chiropractic.  Just to be clear, there is no such terms such as “chiropractory,” or “chiropractics.”  The usage of such terms is largely due to being unaware that only 2 forms of the word chiropractic.

 

Do all chiropractors provide the same treatment?

Most chiropractors provide similar treatment, however, there is a wide variety in chiropractic care treatment method and variety in chiropractic services.  Some chiropractors only provide spinal manipulation / adjustments where as other chiropractors will also provide adjustments to the joints in the arms and legs.  Many chiropractors also provide treatment with such modalities as ultrasound, IFC (interferential current), microcurrent, TENS, and laser, to help aid in tissue healing, increase blood circulation to the involved tissues and decrease inflammation.
